Kenny Donaldson, PhD

Associate Athletic Director, Sports & Administration; UCLA Athletics

    Dr. Kenny Donaldson returns to the UCLA Department of Intercollegiate Athletics after serving as the Academic Coordinator for Men’s and Women’s Basketball from 2003-2010 and Assistant Director of Academic & Student Services from 2010-2013. He graduated from UCLA in 1997 with a B.S. degree in Physiological Sciences and earned a M.S. degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education with an emphasis in Sports Psychology in 2008 from Cal State University, Long Beach. He completed his doctorate in Higher Education Management at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Education in 2019.

    Dr. Donaldson previously was the Director of East Coast Outreach and Engagement for the UCLA Alumni Association from 2013-2015 and the Director of Regional Clubs and Councils for the Pitt Alumni Association from 2015-2017. He most recently worked as the Associate Director of Strategic Programming and Initiatives for the Center for Urban Education at the University of Pittsburgh from 2017-2019.

    While at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Donaldson also was a member of the Greater Pittsburgh Higher Education Diversity Consortium (GPHEDC), and served on the School of Education Strategic Planning Committee for Research-Planning Partnerships and the Equity, Inclusion & Anti-Discrimination Advocacy Committee (EIADAC). Additionally, Dr. Donaldson was a mentor and life skills workshop facilitator throughout his six years in Pittsburgh.

    Dr. Donaldson led many projects and initiatives during his first stint in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, directing the department’s Campus Relations Program, chairing the NCAA Diversity and Inclusion Compliance Oversight Committee during 2011 self-study, and participating in the UCLA Campus Council on Diversity and Inclusion (CODI). He was a member of the 2011-2012 cohort of the UCLA Campus Professional Development Program (PDP) and the National Association of Athletic Academic Advisors (N4A) from 2002-2013. Dr. Donaldson is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
