Dr. Sharon Hame is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty certification in sports medicine. She has been on the faculty at UCLA for over 20 years and has been a team physician for the UCLA Department of Athletics since her hire. She currently serves as a team physician for UCLA football, women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, men’s tennis and women’s beach volleyball. Although her clinical interest includes all sports related injuries, she has a special interest in hip injuries and hip arthroscopy. Her research pursuits have been broad and she has many publications in the area of ligament biomechanics, surgical trends and functional testing to assess injury risk in athletes. Her recent investigation in the area of single sports specialization is the first of its kind in college athletes.
